Was Money All That Mattered?

This is a song about a man who was dating a woman way above his income level and status.  His date wanted there relationship to be filled with trips to other places where they could experience unique things.  But when she found out he wasn’t in any position to contribute or cover his own expenses she realized she didn’t really know who she was dating and so she was disappointed and decided to call it quits.  Also understand, the woman is not the villain.  She has every right to decide who she wants to spend her time with.  Just because she didn’t realize her lover wasn’t in her social circle does not negate her right to choose who she spends her life with.  He on the other hand should have known he was dating way over his head and the likelihood it would work out was slim at best.
