This is a song about a man who is alone, having lost his girlfriend/wife. He is sitting in the pouring rain wondering how its happened to him again. He laments over her having left him and states he knows his regret will eat him up inside, so he must go on and push forward. The fact that he has regrets insinuates he must have done something wrong. He later has the foresight to realize that he should try to ask for forgiveness, and giving a tender kiss. It’s a risk but one he should take.
