If I’d Have Only Known – Latin Version

This is a song about a woman I have the utmost respect for. Her name is Dina. She and her first husband were friends of mine and I loved them both. She remarried but unknown to me was that her husband was abusing her and she suffered a long time of torment.

Dina tried to seek help but the few she told didn’t believe her. So she endured the abuse for a time. Finally she got the courage to leave and no longer had to endure the undeserved abuse. So now she shares her story to help other women to find the courage to leave unhealthy relationships. She wears her scars as proof she survived and is stronger in spite of it. Her biggest outcry to abused women is this, “I believe you.”

My part in the song is telling her how sorry I am that this happened to her and that I would have protected her and helped her to be free. I never knew and I find that difficult as a consolation. As a victim of abuse myself, I know how damaging it can leave a person. It broke my heart to find out years later, that she had to endure this horror alone. 

I personally detest men who hurt women. They’re just bullies with no concept of how precious their female partner is.
