Infatuated

This is a song about an incident that actually happened to me.  I was between semesters at college and was with a friend visiting his girlfriend in Connecticut.  We had hitchhiked there from New Jersey.  On the way I was telling my friend Tony, that I was contemplating pursing acting as a career instead of music, and had taken some acting classes in college and at the Academy of Arts in New York.  I told him I loved the English accents and began speaking with the accent.  Somehow we wondered if I could pull it off for longer than a stage performance.  So I decided to make believe I was Tony’s friend on holiday from England.  We laughed about it.  

Later that evening we met up with Tony’s girlfriend at a restaurant and I sat at a table nearby them by myself so they could be alone together.  Soon after that about four girls entered one of the girls asked if they minded if they sat at my table; (the place was busy and there weren’t any other tables open to seat 4 people).  I continued in character and stated to the woman that they were welcome to join me.  The woman’s name was Ginny and as she sat down she asked me if I was from England.   I said yes, just outside of London.  As the night went on it became apparent to me that she was infatuated with talking with someone from England.  “She was in love with a thing she didn’t understand”……meaning she didn’t realize I was just acting.  She and her finally left for the evening and I never saw or spoke to her again.  She was a very attractive and pleasant woman.  I chuckle every time I play or listen to the song.
