This song is about exactly what the title says, “It’s Great To Be Alive”. It sings about children playing in their yards, grandparents who may be older but still have a youthful zest for life, and how a young husband and wife prayed and yearned for a child, who after a successful birth are so grateful to God for answering their prayers and wish. The theme of the song is reminding us how grateful we should be for what we have and for what’s been given to us. This is not to say that some people have had a horrible life but rather to remind those of us who have had a peaceful, safe and abundant life….to not take it for granted, to step back and remind ourselves how fortunate we are and have been.
