This song is about the crazy wave of kids who began believing they were cats.  And if you haven’t heard about this lunacy, I’m not making it up.  In fact, when I first heard about it…I thought it was a hoax.  So I googled the topic and did some research and not only was it true but it was also happening in Canada.   The part that really blows my mind is that some of the teachers and administrators were nuttier than the kids.  They literally put sand boxes in the bathrooms for these crazy kids.  Add that stupidity, to the few teachers who weren’t going to encourage this ridiculous nonsense of kids who wouldn’t speak English but would only make “meow” sounds.  Unfortunately, a couple teachers were fired because they wouldn’t respond to the kids “meows” with the same idiotic “meowing” back to the student.   Yes, you heard it right….they were fired because they refused to play along with the absurdity of communicating by “meowing”.  Personally, the administrators who went along with this insane nonsense should have been fired.

Regardless, this song is about how a father’s friend sees a solution to the idiocy of it all by giving the young girl in the story, a dead rat.  After all, that’s what cat’s eat.  It’s a little funny and yet hard to believe that kids were really doing this both in the USA and Canada.

A line in the song says, “What the hell are they teachin’ our kids these days”.  But when you think about it, the parents are allowing it to go on, some of the teachers and administrators were catering to it as well.  So both the schools and parents are exacerbating the ridiculous behavior.  It’s so ridiculous………you can’t make this stuff up.

So if you have one of these “kittys” at your house, feed them a rat and see how long they last “meowing”.

Did somebody spike the water with crazy meds?  Like my Navy chief used to say, “You can’t fix stupid.”
