My Work Won’t Keep Me Warm

This is a song about a man who finally realizes too late that his dedication to his work isn’t as important as his dedication should be toward his wife and family.  She finally leaves him due to being tired of eating dinners alone, him coming home late night after night and too tired to give her any attention or love.  He realizes his pursuit of goals and accolades were meaningless if it cost him his family and home.  He finally realized that a job is important but if success destroys everything you have, its value is meaningless.  He realized finally that his “work won’t keep him warm”.
