There’s Lovin At The Drive-In

This is a song about the days when every teenager and those in their 20’s and 30’s went to drive-ins to watch a movie with their girlfriend, boyfriend or spouse.  It was where you would go to watch a movie without having to leave your car.  It was also the place we would go as teenagers to watch movies in a private setting.  But the real excitement was in the back seat because more often it was a place where teenagers would go to fulfill their sexual desires.  It was sometimes humorous when you noticed cars with steamed up windows or a car rocking back and forth.  It was where many teens lost their virginity and created memories that stayed with them through the years.  I’ll admit there were a few movies I went to but never really watched.    I remember going to see  Doctor Zhivago at the drive-in with my girlfriend but I don’t remember anything about the movie after the first 5 minutes.    It’s a shame they’re literally gone from the landscape.  They weren’t just part of America’s past; they were part of a lot of peoples memories that were filled with love, romance and sex.  It was a special moment of time in America’s history.
